I did not know it counted as abuse

She checked his phone, controlled the money and mocked him in front of his friends. He was embarrassed, so he said nothing.
When a counsellor told him that what he described was abuse, he did not believe it at first. Men were not supposed to be victims.
With support he began to set boundaries, reconnect with his family and make safe decisions. Healing was slow, but he is no longer walking on eggshells.
